One very mod elephant > available in a pretty mod lavender, or your choice of colors.

today's etsy stumble: sweetly modern baby quilts by Red Pepper Quilts. I love the modern stripes on a gray background -- a great way to show off a few very mod prints without overwhelming.

new prints: inspired by memory

This week's new prints: A lil' chickadee (shown in a pretty buff color, but I'm torn-- I love it in robin's egg blue too), a puppy feelin playful (inspired by a terrier I once knew) and a child's initial 'schoolhouse' style -- just like I remember it from the chart over the blackboard in third grade.

the big mod rocker roundup

This week, I'm sortof obsessed with rocking chairs for nurseries. Modern nurseries, that is.

Rockers I heart:

My obsession started with the Eames RAR Rocker of course. Find look-alikes many places online, the real one is at allmodern >
(love the white...)

. . . then there's the mademoiselle at DWR - so beautiful, somewhere between shaker and swedish and Nakashima, but ouch, spendy.

I've heard good things from mommies-to-be about the new Ikea rocker called "Lillberg" and the cushions are slipcovered for easy washing. But oh, who has that kind of space? It looks so huge in the catalog, and a bit bland to my eye. It definitely needs a splashy throw pillow, and its just begging to be painted turquoise. or, well, white.

Which brings me to my inner junk-store junkie -- remember the bentwood rocking chairs everyone seemed to have in their basements in the 1970s? check craigslist - I'm finding dozens. Then, paint it... yes... white!

thanks to lungergirl for the vintage magazine inspiration! so mod!

Are there more mod rockers out there?
